Re: New JOIN in 2.9.4b8?

Hello,

this is the general reply to Stefan, Chris and Christophe for the list...

Did you notice the difference between b8 and b7 in the log?

This is b7. I type: /join #kasi and i get this line:

*** Kasi- (kl@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) has joined channel #kasi

Then i say "hello" to the channel and it works (as it should be).

This is b8. I type: /join #kasi and *i get a different answer*:

*** Kasi (~kl@xxxxxxxxxxx) has joined channel #kasi o

The "#kasi o" corresponds to "#kasi^Go". Therefore, my client thinks i'm
on "#kasi^Go" whereas the server says (which is correct) that i'm on
#kasi. Thus, when i say "hello" to the channel, i get the following error
msgs:

*** #kasi o: No such nick/channel
*** #kasi o : There was no such nickname
*** #kasi o : End of WHOWAS

Where, again, #kasi o == #kasi^Go

Is it now clear that there's a difference between b7 and b8 and that the
behavior of b8 doesn't seem to be 'the old behavior' which has been there
for years?

Bye, Kasi

PS ircII EPIC supports combined MODE + JOIN (as you can see in the first
part of the log - irc2.9.4b7).
PPS To be sure, i installed 2.9.3 (with practically the same config.h
file). And when i tried the same as above (/join #kasi) on 2.9.3,
everything worked fine (as with irc2.9.4b7). I'm now trying to find
out what has changed in the source code...
