Re[2]: Can a prompt be fixed?

hi Matus,

> well, you are probably talking about IRC client, not the server

I'm afraid that's not the case..
I will setup an irc server and I have the need to modify the prompt as
descibed. since I will not have any control over the users choice of
client software, I need to apply that behaviour on the server.

but what I will have control over is the nickname of the user.
on this planned system the nick is fixed and cannot be changed.

I read about an alternative nickname. could there be a possibility to
use those two nicknames to display the first in the userlist and use
the second for the prompt or vice versa?

hmm.. you mean that this 'behaviour' is not controlled by the protocol
at all?

if this would be the only possible way to achieve my need, is there a
way to force a client to use such a script? like 'here it is. use it
or be kicked'?
