ircd does not start

Hi, it's me again....sorry but I'm starting with the ircd software.

I tell you: everything was OK except for the ircd only accepted local
connections (from my LAN) and not remote connections (this topic is for
another message). Now I have a big problem: when I want to start the ircd
program in background (/usr/local/sbin/ircd &), it doesn't start and the
process number get by "ps -ef" launch:

pid ppid ......     <defunc>                             (defunc in place of
ircd)

and then ircd does not start.
I remove the package from my machine (Sun/Solaris 7) and then I re-installed
the same package again. But the problem is still present.

What could be happened ???? What can I do ????
