Re: Big Brother NOTE?
Hello,
you (stelb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) wrote:

NOT true.
| What does NOTE do?

Either the above statement or your definition of 'the same' is wrong. WHO
(etc.) is providing you only with 'information' of a specific moment.
Between two consecutive WHO requests, the provided information may
physically change altho you wouldn't notice it. Therefore, you can never
be sure that WHO is showing you *the same* connection between different
WHO requests (and that's why you can't use WHO for spying). NOTE, however,
does not have that restriction.
| MODE nick +i does not matter for ALL (NOTE/WHOIS/WHO)

eh? Have you ever tried '/who <nick>' on a nick who's set +i?
Currently, you have to set yourself +i and then change your nick before
you can admit a sufficient level of privacy in relation with NOTE.
_That's_ the real joke. :-\
| 2) Notify me if a given nick!user@host combo joins a channel.
See above.
| 3) Send a msg to a given nick!user@host possibly saving it until signon.
Yeah, and that's the only more or less useful thing in NOTE. You really
don't need NOTE's spy functions for chatting.
| NOTE
| o burns server, not client CPU.
| o produces less server-client traffic.
| o works even while I am not connected.
| o needs toplevel domain, WHO accepts * as argument.
| o is faster.
yeah, and it thus makes spying much easier and much more effective. Isn't
that great?
| All NOTE features may be emulated if one insist.
| No secret information will be given.
NOT true.
| If that's still too much then not only NOTE should be nuked,
| but WHOIS/WHO/ISON too.
See above.
| You must be joking.
See above.
Bye, Kasi

PS Removing NOTE's spy functions does already suffice, IMHO.
