Big Brother NOTE?

Hi,

NOTE may seem to give out Information that normally can't be accessed.

NOT true.

What does NOTE do?

1) Notify me if a given nick!user@host combo signs on.

The same could be achieved by regularly sending ISON
or WHO. The latter can be used with a pattern which is matched
against username, hostname and realname. Might need some
clever scripting, if you don't like to get unwanted information,
		 but it's possible.
MODE nick +i does not matter for ALL (NOTE/WHOIS/WHO)
if the nick is known. Otherwise it is respected by all
		 commands.

2) Notify me if a given nick!user@host combo joins a channel.

Can be achieved with clever combination of regularly sending
WHO/WHOIS. WHO is needed, if the nick is not given.
		MODE #channel +p/+s is respected by NOTE/WHOIS/WHO.

3) Send a msg to a given nick!user@host possibly saving it until signon.

if 1) is implemented this is simple.

What's different?

NOTE
o burns server, not client CPU.
	o produces less server-client traffic.
o works even while I am not connected.
o needs toplevel domain, WHO accepts * as argument.
  o is faster.

So what?!

All NOTE features may be emulated if one insist.
No secret information will be given.

If that's still too much then not only NOTE should be nuked,
but WHOIS/WHO/ISON too. You must be joking.
